A former chess, bridge and backgammon champion, Dara is also a top class international ultra distance runner (winner of the 2005 Tresco marathon, the 2006 New York ultra marathon (3rd in 2007), the 2007 Schinnen ultra marathon, and current Irish 24 hour champion). He captured his first major poker title within a year of learning the game.
His nickname in Irish poker circles is The Cockroach, based on his ability to survive deep into tournaments and final table more often than any other player . |
